The Ghosts of Kennesaw House
The Kennesaw House, located near the town square of Marietta, GA, is a very historic house. It now serves as a museum. The house was built as a stagecoach stop in the 1800s. During the Civil War, it served as a hospital for wounded Confederates. Today, some of those spirits supposedly still inhabit the house.
Unexplained noises are often heard in the house my visitors and employees alike. One newspaper article described the house as being haunted by 'seven hundred ghosts.' Though this may be a slight exaggeration, some have seen signs of restless spirits. Museum curator Dan Cox, who doesn't believe in ghosts, has admitted unexplained phenomena occurs here. One of the most often sighted spirits is that of a surgeon, who walks the halls of the house, especially on the lower floor. It is also claimed that the elevator of this house is home to a ghost. The elevator goes up to the top floor on its own, and the doors open. This occurs only when the museum is closed. No one spirit is known to do this. Perhaps the seven hundred ghosts take turns annoying the curator!
