Haunted Hope Hill Cemetery

Hope Hill Cemetery is located between Milan and Medina just off Hope Hill Cemetery Road in Gibson County, TN. It is a historical and well-maintained cemetery with many old graves. One of the most interesting graves is that of a young girl who died in 1931 at the age of five. There seems to be controversy over the cause of her death. Some say she died of normal causes, while others say she was raped and beaten to death by her uncle. I don't know which of these accounts is true, though I would prefer not to think the worst.

After the girl was buried, her family had a dollhouse built over her grave. The dollhouse has had to be rebuilt several times, as vandals have destroyed it, but today it stands and is well kept by family members. After dark, it's said that the ghost of the little girl can be seen playing with her dolls and talking to them. It's also said that if you step a few steps away and look into a window of the dollhouse, you can see her inside, looking back at you. As with any ghost story, there are a number of variations of the story, but these facts seem the be the most reliable.

I would like to note that if you chose to visit this cemetery, or any other cemetery or public place, that you should be respectful. The cemetery is closed after 6 PM. Also, treat the cemetery with as much respect as you'd treat the graves of your own family. Ghosts & Spirits of Tennessee does not accept or condone vandalism or other unethical behavior.
