The Pinson Mounds

The Pinson Mounds were a very sacred place to certain groups of Native Americans. They were built between AD 1 and AD 500, but unknown peoples. Today, there are protected in Pinson Mounds State Archeological Area, located in Madison County, TN, just south of Jackson. The most amazing is Ozier's Pyramid, which is perfectly aligned with the sunrise of the spring equinox. If you are in the area, you should visit them. You definitely can feel their importance in the atmosphere.

Today, they are said to be haunted by the spirits of the long dead natives who established them. There are many burial mounds in the area, and it doesn't seem illogical that some of the spirits might return to this sacred spot. A handful of people have reported strange energy sources, and seen ghostly figures, or heard strange noises. Since no one knows anything about these people's culture, it's unknown as to how they should be expected to behave.

Predictably, park officials deny anything unusual is happening there. Any they may be right. But still, when you visit the site, you may feel a presence in the air. Is it the power of suggestion, or is there really someone or something there?
