Spirits of Resthaven
 Resthaven Cemetery, located on Highway 41A in Clarksville, TN, is a beautiful modern cemetery, with hundreds of graves. Supposedly, it's also home to many ghosts of those buried there. A few people have claimed to see ghostly figures walking the grounds, or heard strange noises. These ghosts are typical ghosts which are supposed to haunt most cemeteries
Perhaps more interesting than these spooks is the legend involving the house behind the cemetery. According to local legend, this house was home to a wealthy planter before the Civil War. This planter owned several slaves, and was known as a stern master. One of the slaves was a rebellious one who fell in love with the master's daughter. There is some dispute over what happened between the two. One version says that the slave raped the girl, the other version claims that the girl consented. In any event, the girl became pregnant. When it became obvious she was pregnant, she told her father that she had been raped. Whether or not she was telling the truth depends on which version of the story you subscribe to. In any event, the master was enraged, and killed the slave very brutally. Today, the legend holds, the ghost of the slave still roams the grounds around the house and the cemetery, looking for his child. Evidence of the spirit's presence today can be experienced by the ghostly lights which supposedly move around the area after dark. Footsteps and moans are also heard from time to time. Perhaps someday the slave will find his child, and then he can have some peace. Until then, according to legend, he will continue to roam the area.
