Seven Islands Church

Seven Islands Church is one of the oldest churches in Knox County. Located in South Knoxville near the Sevier County line on the French Broad River, this church was founded in 1802. In the 200 hundred plus years since, it is said that some ghosts have come to reside around the church and the cemetery.

Among the paranormal activity that is supposed to be present in the region are strange spirits that emanate from the bell tower. Supposedly, one can feel "negative vibes" coming from the tower. Late at night, it is said that strange lights can be seen there.

Also, some claim that strange shadows can be seen roaming about in the cemetery. It is claimed that these shadows may have something to do with witches, which are also said to be buried there.

Not all of the frightening events that occur at Seven Islands Church are supernatural, however. According to some reports, cults are said to meet here and carry out bizarre rituals. Perhaps this explains why many of the gravestones have been vandalized. As with any location, if you choose to visit this church and cemetery, please show proper respect for the graves and the church.

So what is going on at this church and cemetery? No one can really say. Some believe it really is haunted, others believe it is simply an old church with an unfortunate reputation. Hardly anyone really wants to find out for sure, though!
