I live in the Parsonage for New Providence Church. I find the stories interesting. I have never seen the ghost or the dog. Ha. I used to live in Church Hill on Elm Springs Road. We lived in the old Bean-Sensabaugh house. We had heard it was haunted and there were stories about it. Do you know any stories about that house? Corner of Fudges Chapel Road. Big two story frame house. The pictures of our church are very very nice. I sent them to a former pastor and he e-mailed back that the pictures were so nice.

The only story I have heard from here is that at night you can go in the Maxwell Academy and here the children singing upstairs......

Bethberei Church

Location: Lewisburg, TN

I thought you would be interested in some activities my family and I have witnessed at this church. So here you go:

1. We noticed that if you go to the church just before or after a storm there are a lot more activities going on there.

2. We seen puddles of water on just one grave by the church when we had no rain for a month, along with our dog trying to tear up a headstone when there was nothing or no one there.

3. The graveyard across the street is really creepy though, if you pull into the access road there is just one headstone that it seems your lights shine through a hole in it.

4. We have heard someone walking across the main graveyard, when you could see no one was there. Then we seen the gate unlatch, swing open, and then shut.

5. As we was leaving that same night, we glanced over at the road that leads to the side of the church and seen all the flowers had been removed from the graves and tossed into a pile outside of that gate.

Bonicamps House

Location: Hixon, TN

I have heard several stories about this house from my family members. It is said that the house was haunted by two Civil War men. It is said that there were caves under the house that led out to the railroad tracks to the side of the property. It was told that books would come out of the bookcase which was built into the wall. The ghost were said to be friendly. The house was said to be a place where their ammunition was stored during the Civil War. I visited this house myself when it was on the market to be sold. The Realtor took us on a tour of the house which was very interesting. There had been an auction before it was put on the market so the bookcases had been taken. We made our way to the basement, to see the supposedly tunnels. Unfortunately, the basement had a concrete slab poured over the place of the tunnels so there wasn't much to see. I questioned the Realtor about the stories surrounding the house and she said she was not familiar with the details but that everyone who had visited the house had told her many stories about it. She told us that the only mysterious thing she knew for sure, was that alarm system had been disconnected for years and she had received a call from the alarm company stating that the alarm was sounding a warning. She found that ironic, considering the alarm system wires had also been cut. I am still very curious about this house!!! I would appreciate any more info that you could get on this house. I am not sure that the spelling is correct for their name. The house has since been sold and has new owners. It is located in Hixson, Tennessee. I am not sure of the exact street address, but it is on Old Hixson Pike.

Haunted House in Jonesborough

Location: Jonesborough, TN

Me and my aunt and uncle and friends went to this house behind Burton Rubber (a factory in Jonesborough) and decided to see if it was really haunted! We had heard stories about it before but we really wanted to see for our selves! so the story is.....a man built that house to look like the house off of Chainsaw Massacre the man was known to have brought women into his house and rape them and then of course kill them. the house is very old and is now abandoned. but anyway we went there and just parked our cars right out in front of the house. my uncle had a flash light and was shining it in the very top window which was the attic window. the window had the green stuff you insulate your house with over the glass and there was probably boards on the other side. well nothing happened so he shined it in some of the other windows and still nothing happened! so we were fixing to leave when my aunt said to shine the light into the attic window one last time before we go cause she thought she saw something! so he shined it in the window and the green stuff was gone!! it kinda looked like something was holding it back but i was so freaked out I really didn't pay attention!! All I knew was the no one lived in that house and something move the green stuff! But I did see something in the right top hand corner of the window! It looked like a big pearl ball thing and it just was kinda floating!! We left very quickly but we are supposed to go back tonight!! I know you probably don't believe me but I do not lie! if you want to find out for yourself if it is haunted or not I will give you directions!! go on Old State Route 34 in Jonesborough TN and there will be a road that you can turn beside Poly One (Burton rubber) that road will be called ......I'm not very sure but I will e-mail you back and then tell you the name of the road!! but you go down that road and there will be train tracks you have to cross and then there will be a lil road you have to turn down! and then there is the house and there is a trailer that some idiots live in but I 'm pretty sure they wont live there for long!! but I swear to you that I am not lying!!

Updated Report: Yes, we did go back and we taped it cause I had to do a report and I chose that house cause hardly anyone knows about it. So we taped it and nothing happened and I was kinda disappointed, but when we got home we watched the taped and the window that had the insulation stuff in it was there and the green stuff was there the whole time but when we watched the tape the green stuff was gone most of the tape!!! It was very weird and there was lil balls flying around also!!!!

University of Memphis and Rhodes College

Location: Memphis, TN

I imagine you've never heard of the benevolent construction worker who haunts the main theatre at the University of Memphis. Supposedly killed in a construction accident, he has been seen, or his presence felt, many times. The McCoy Theatre at Rhodes has a spurious legend which explains some genuine phenomena and the Germantown Community Theatre has a ghost with a name.

Orpheum Theatre

Location: Memphis, TN

The name of the man you mentioned is Harlan Judkins (with an 's'). It is also not Mary who plays 'Never, Never Land'--for many years it was myself. She has been accused of many things but playing the organ is not one of them. I never have seen Mary but I was frequently playing this Wurlitzer organ when others have seen her and I know her to be genuine. I have not worked at the Orpheum since 1987 but was interviewed for a segment of Beyond Chance on the Lifetime channel last year which was a very fine retelling of the story. I was also present to play the organ and participate in an Ouija board session with the parapsychology class you speak of. The archives of Memphis Magazine contain a definitive article about Mary and her story is told in the published history of the Orpheum and in 'It Happened in Tennessee.'

By the way, Row C, Seat 5 is in a Mezzanine box. The Orpheum has five levels of seats and each one has a Row C, Seat 5. Mary is most often seen on the Mezzanine level.

Fontaine House

Location: Memphis, TN

A friend of mine got married at the Fontaine house, and the guests of the wedding party can tour the house after the ceremony. I was taking pictures and toured the house after the rest of the crowd with another girl, and when we went into a bedroom in the upstairs where the gown of the child that was drown by the nanny was hanging on the wall, we felt a cold spot and smelled a man's cologne. When we went down stairs to ask about it, the lady in the gift shop said it was believed to be the child's father.

Old Lady of Lamont Street

Location: Johnson City, TN

I used to live at a house at 425 Lamont Street Johnson City TN, that was haunted by the ghost of an old lady, she was real active. You should investigate it. A friend of mine came by late one night, and he said an old lady answered the back door, he asked for me, she told him that there was no one here by that name, it freaked him out. I no longer live there but still remember some strange stuff.

Update: We had a lot of things happen, stuff would fly off the walls, once at a party in front of about 20 people a pool ball flew off the pool table, it really freaked everyone out. I was doing the dishes one day and out of the corner of my eye I could see three bottle caps sitting on the counter. Then one flipped straight up bounced off the bottom of the cupboards and hit the floor. I was frozen with fear I just knew something or someone was behind me, I turned around to find that nothing was there, I was totally alone in the house that day except for the ghost.

We never saw the spirit only felt the presence, she would let us know when she was not happy, she hated it when we would have a party and the house would get messed up that is when most off the stuff would happen.

Morgan Branch Cemetery and Dark Hollow

Location: Carter County, TN

I enjoyed my visit to you website. I was doing a web search for other haunted areas in East TN when I found your articles on Morgan Branch Cemetery and Dark Hollow.

I grew up in Roan Mountain, TN, graduated from Cloudland High School there in 1989, and am very familiar with both these areas. Through the years I have heard different tales about Dark Hollow, so I have no way of knowing what is true or not.

Your story of Delinda on Dark Hollow is similar to what I heard, however, the story I heard was that she was killed (by the women) , and like your story says, was thought to be a witch. What I had heard was she was buried on Teabury, which connects with Dark Hollow and takes you to Morgan Branch. There is indeed an unmarked tombstone up there by itself hidden in the woods and appears to be consecrated down to the casket - which is also what I was told they did to hopefully prevent the witch or her powers from returning. See the tombstone pic - http://www.bridgetotheparanormal.freeservers.com/teaburygrave2.jpg

My friend Jeff and I have tried a few times to go out there at night, but the feeling of foreboding is so overwhelming we cannot stay. And the darkness there in the woods of course is an understatement.

The Dark Hollow story I recall had to do with a lady that was beheaded. Either murdered or accidentally, not sure. This sounds like an urban legend, but a headless apparition is to supposed to sometimes appear in the back seat of a car when it passes by the cemetery. I've been through Dark Hollow a many of times, but never saw a headless apparition.
