Lucille Hall Hauntings

Location: ETSU, Johnson City

I am in a marching band, and we stay there for band camp in the summer for about 6 days. We noticed some strange things, and I didn’t find anything about the ghosts until Halloween when I was looking up some good tales to tell on the way home from our Halloween Game. Guys roomed on the second floor, and girls were on the 3rd. Me and my best friend stayed in room 309. When we got there, it was over 90 degrees outside. 100% humidity. The stairs weren’t air conditioned well, yet, there were still VERY cold spots. Enough to give me shivers. In the rooms, everything seemed normal. The elevator was fishy though. One night, All the males were downstairs. I went back upstairs, and I pushed the 3 button in the elevator (I was the only one in the elevator). The elevator stopped on the second floor. The doors made this horrible sound, and when they opened a blast of horribly cold air shot straight in. There was no on the 2nd floor to have pushed the button and run off. Then it stayed cold in the elevator for about an hour. I felt like I was being watched. I almost had a panic attack. It was very scary. Then, the next part was I was going downstairs that same night, and the other band people were lounging around here and there, but we all felt very cold.... and it was JULY!!!  I walked up the stairs alone one time, and it felt like someone walked past me...then.... my friend who I roomed with told me that she woke up one night, and there was someone in the room, that she was dressed in a dress, and she was standing between the beds. (I was asleep and didn’t see anything). The only other person with a key was my mother (she was a chaperone) and she didn’t have any dresses with her, and mom would have knocked first.

Spooky Scott County Hospital

Location: Oneida

There is a story in Scott County Hospital. She was a psych patient a long time ago. The story is that she dove off the end of the bed, and somehow broke her neck. She really liked going to the OB ward to see the babies in the nursery. She was harmless, just nuts. When she died, she showed back up. She plays with the elevators near the ER (I have been there too, ghosts seem to find me in elevators). She is also usually hanging around in OB. Mom says that after I was born, she took the wrong elevator trying to get to the cafeteria. She was carrying me with her. She wound up in the main basement where the boiler room was. She says when the doors opened, a rather transparent Cora, tried to walk in the elevator, but mom said she was so scared because Cora had this weird look on her face, that she hit the buttons and went upstairs before Cora could get in. Mom says that the nurses just said "oh, that’s Cora." My father worked at the theater here too, for a while before I was born. He said that when he was the only one there, he could hear footsteps behind him. He said he could usually see a gingham print skirt in the corner of his eye. There was a house there that burnt in the early 1870s. The theater was built in the 1970's.

Buffalo Community Orphanage

Location: Scott County

In Scott county, near the city park, is Pine Hill. The radio station (WBNT 105.5 FM) sits at the top. If you go up to the top of pine hill, and keep going down the other side, you come to the Buffalo Community. It takes about half hour to get there from Oneida. There used to be an old orphanage down there, where they tortured the kids, and beat them up. It was pretty much a slave holding place. If a kid died, or wound up killed, they buried it in the back with an unmarked stone. One of my friends said she drove past one night, and the doors were open, and she went down the road some, and come back, and the doors closed. There was no wind. They say you can hear unearthly screams coming from the place. My friend and I drove down there one night last Spring , and she got out. She got to the doors (I was too chicken to get out), and felt something push her away. I saw the whole thing. There was nothing visible there. She floored it, and we made it back to Oneida in about 10 minutes that night. We ain’t been back out to Buffalo since.

Etowah Eeriness

Location: Etowah

I am a graduate of Etowah City School.   I am now in college, but I still remember my encounter with the Ghost of Etowah High School.   I played basketball at Etowah City, and one day after practice during my 8th grade year I stayed after to work on my shooting.   The only two people in the gym were my coach and I, and he was in the locker room, while I was in the gym shooting.   I noticed the air in the gym was very musty and still, which was very strange because usually it is quite cold due to the enormous air conditioning continuously blowing.   I passed it off, however, and continued shooting.   Suddenly I heard a loud noise from the equipment room on the opposite side of the gym from the locker room.   I went to go see if my coach was in there and needed help.   When I went in, I saw basketballs scattered all over the floor, apparently from the rack also lying on the floor.   I called out for my coach thinking he had knocked them over, but no one was in the room.   Puzzled, I decided to pick up all the balls and put them in the rack.   I then went back out into the gym to look for my coach.   When I opened the equipment room door into the gym, I was looking out into complete darkness.   I called for my coach, but there was no response.   I then realized that to turn the lights back on I would have to walk all the way across the gym in the darkness.   Being a little freaked out I convinced myself that nothing was wrong and that my coach probably just turned them off thinking I had already left.   As I walked through the dark to the otherside, I heard the distinct sound of a basketball dribbling around on either side of me.   I stopped and peered into the dark to see if I could spot anything, but as soon as I stopped walking the dribbling stopped also.  At this point I just decided to get to the other side of the gym to the doors and leave.   The next day at school, I stopped by my coach's class and asked him about the night before.   I was surprised to hear him tell me that he had left after hearing me open the locker room door and tell him I was leaving.   I told him that I did no such thing, and then proceeded to tell him my story.   We were both stumped and played the whole incident of a lack of good communication.   I have not heard any other ghost stories about the gym, but I am a true believer that something strange or supernatural is at work there.

Weird Woodruff Fontaine House

Location: Memphis

When we entered the children's room, I remember standing near a bed and suddenly being over-whelmed with a pressure on my chest and a feeling of great sorrow deep within me. I could only turn to my husband and lament to him that I felt so very sad without words or reason to express why. I do recall moving about in the room and feeling some relief when I came upon a small alcove that as I best recall may have been a playroom or nursery. At my husband's insistance we left the room(I'm certain he thought I had lost my senses ) and re-started the tape recording which had been entered into a hand held device that was supplied to us for use in our self-guided tour of the mansion. The tape relayed the fact that visitors had experienced unusual activities on occasion and if we had anything to report to tell the attendant at the end of the tour. As fate will heve it, the attendant was engrossed in a telephone conversation and my husband refused to prolong our stay since he had jmany miles driving ahead of him. He left and I waited for her attention but she showed no sign of ending her call. All of these years, I have come accross a snapshot of the house and remembered "the sad room". I got chills when the identical house appeared on your site. I can only hope and pray that this unhappy soul will "let go and let God " and that I too will practise what I preach.

Old Corbin Hospital Haunting

Location: Corbin, KY

April 19, 2005 - Myself and 5 other people visited the Old Corbin Hospital. We drove around corbin for 3 hours trying to find it. It was 5 am when we got there and 2 men in the group went in through the old emergency room entrance. They couldn't get the flashlight to work when they got in there so they proceeded with 2 cigarette lighters which mysteriously blew out and would not relight. They were in there about 5 minutes when they heard noises that sounded like thunder and came running out of the building and jumped in the blazer terrified. We went to Wal Mart and bought 2 more flashlights and came back. This time the whole group came in in a single file line. it is very easy to get lost in the old hospital. I was second to last in line in the building and as we passed the x ray room i got a very nauseating feeling, we kept hitting cold pockets and hearing whispers. I was absolutely terrified and had 2 men walk me out and one of them stayed in the blazer with me while the other 4 were inside. I have no idea what they saw in there but there was some spooky stuff going on on the outside. I kept seeing orbs of light going up the left side of the building, and lights flickering and there is no electricity anywhere around the building. We kept hearing scratching sounds on the outside of the blazer and howling, even growling and there were no dogs in sight. When the rest of the group came out of the building they said that they couldn't even go upstairs because the stairs were broken off, we distinctly saw lights upstairs.
