The Ghost of Clement Hall

As we all know, you would be hard pressed to find a college or university anywhere that couldn't boast at least one resident spirit. The University of Tennessee at Martin is no exception. Though there are other vague ghost stories associated with the campus, the ghost that supposedly haunts Clement Hall is the most well known.

Clement Hall is a women's dorm. Campus lore tells that some years back, a female student killed herself on the fourth floor of this dormitory. No one seems to know why she did it, other than that she was severely depressed. Today, it is said, her ghost now haunts Clement Hall. Though odd happenings have been reported throughout the hall, they seem to be most common on the fourth floor, where the student was said to have lived. Strangely enough, the most ghostly activity is said to resonate from the community bathroom. Perhaps it was here that the student ended her life, though no one seems to know for sure.

The folks at UTM have capitalized to some extend on their favorite in absentia student. Every year, an annual Halloween Party is thrown in Clement Hall. The odd thing is that the party never extends to the fourth floor! Why is this? Perhaps the people of UTM would rather keep their resident spook at arm's length.
